They are, for want of a better word, propaganda for the cause of early Christianity. In assuming our humanity and experiencing the depths of its mortality, the Son of God shares his life with us. Reimarus did not invent the notion of Jesus’ body being stolen from the tomb; it was a well-known rumor by the time of Matthew’s composition (Mt 28:11). Jesus chose to only be in one place at a time, to limit his power, and to limit his knowledge. So the will seems to be a soulish capacity, and the rational will is a capacity of persons.

These spiritual gifts are not innate abilities "unlocked" by the Holy Spirit, but entirely new abilities, such as the ability to cast out demons or simply bold speech. Josephus tells of the Izates the King of Adiabene considering following the women of his Court and his mother in converting to Judaism, but being convinced to stop short of circumcision. 9 His brother Monobazus apparently went all the way ie he was circumcised. 10 Paul rarely quotes Jesus although he does occasionally use the term ‘saying of the Lord’ in an historical sense without specifying a particular saying (1 Thess. 4:13). Many argue that the appearances of " the Angel of the Lord " in the Old Testament were the preincarnate Christ. "Many understand the angel of the Lord as a true theophany.
